Eket stands still for 2face and Annie’s marriage

The ancient town of Eket, in Akwa-Ibom State lost its serenity Friday when it played host to a mammoth crowd of Nigerian celebrities who stormed the town to be part of the historic traditional marriage of superstar, Tuface Idibia and his wife, Annie Macaulay.

The traditional marriage held at the Apostolic High School, Esit Urua Community, Eket – Ibeno Road, in Uyo, the bride’s hometown, climaxed the month-long speculation that preceded the wedding.

Among the celebrities that graced the event were Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, Sound Sultan, HipHopWorld Magazine boss, Ayo Animashaun, Now Muzik Chief, Efe Omorogbe, Iyanya and many others.

Most guests who arrived in Uyo, the prevous night were lodged at the Villa Marina hotel. The pre-wedding bash also held Thursday night, and it was gathered that Akwa-Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio sponsored the event.

2face and Annie have been engaged since last year after the former popped the proposal with a sparkling diamond ring on Valentine’s day in the presence of very close friends to a shocked Annie at former Club 10 (now Club PoP) in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Following the proposal, many thought a star-studded wedding was in the offing, but the lovebirds settled for a private civil marriage in Lagos, shortly after.

2face later defended the decision back then, saying that it was largely due to the deep respect he had for the feelings and emotions of the two major characters/lovers in his life – Sunmbo Ajaba and Pero Adeniyi. The two bore him four children, with the sixth (Adeniyi’s) born last year.

But, critics swallowed his explanation with a pinch of salt. Like Annie, many were equally shocked with the music star’s decision to settle down. The issue of his marriage has attracted a lot of attention, given his notoriety with different women out of which three sired five children for him.

2face met Annie while still struggling in the industry as an upcoming artiste and member of the defunct pop group, Plantashaun Boiz.

When he left the group to pursue a solo career, Annie stuck with him and unmindful of other women who swarmed around the young successful handsome crooner.

2Face eventually featured her in the video of his hit track, “African Queen”, from where the two later became a hotter item. Not long after, they cemented their relationship when their four year old daughter, Isabella Eneh arrived.

Explaining his reason for settling down with Annie of all his ladies, 2face confessed that it was a decision he made from the depth of his soul.

“Like any other thought about something important, you start feeling the need to do something or go somewhere different from deep within. Then you just make your move one time; no shaking. The timing for marriage should not be determined by any outside influences,” he said.

The couple’s white wedding comes up in Dubai, UAE on 23th of March, where they are expected to spend their honeymoon.
