Nigeria- President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has moved 20 spots from his earlier position as the 43rd richest person in the world to being the 23rd richest man in the world, according to Forbes.
He also retains his position as the Richest Man in Africa.
The mogul who has interests in cement, sugar, flour and beverages is now worth $25 billion and is also the first black man to be named among the 25 richest people in the world.
Mike Adenuga, owner of Globacom, is next to Dangote on the list with a wealth of $4.6 billion, maintaining 325th position in the world.
Folorunsho Alakija, with $2.5 billion, is 687th in the world and Abdulsamad Rabiu ranks 1372nd in the world with $1.2 billion.American billionaire, Bill Gates, has reclaimed the title of world’s richest person from telecom mogul, Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico after a four-year hiatus.
Gates has raked in an extra $9 billion in the last one year and has been at the top of the list for 15 of the past 20 years. Spanish clothing retailer, Amancio Ortega, (best known for the Zara fashion chain) retains the number three spot for the second year in a row, extending his lead over Warren Buffett, who is again number four.
