FirstBank lunches Youth Excel Series to empower undergraduates

WorldStage Newsonline-- First Bank Plc, one of the corporate organisation leading the quest for empowering Nigerian Youths, Thursday unveiled its First Bank Youth Excel series titled "Against All Odds".
Disclosing this in Lagos at a media briefing, the bank said that the FirstBank Youth Excel Series is targeted at Nigerian Youths in Federal Institution across the nation is expected to kick off on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the University of Lagos and on Thursday, February 28 at the University of Ibadan respectively.
The event which aims to inspire, motivate and encourage the youth's in spite of limitation and challenges will feature renowned motivational speaker and author of the Best Selling Book "A set b back is a set up for a comeback" by Willie Jolley.
According to the bank, the need to enhance youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and tackle some of the challenges faced by youths in their pursuit of good education, research development, small and medium scale enterprise, ICT and business acumen has motivated the bank's development of this series, adding that this is the best way to reach the youths than through our various citadels of learning.
Speaking at the briefing, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mrs. Folake Ani-Mumuney, said that the financial institution views its interventions in the area of youth empowerment as an integral part of its corporate responsibility projects.
Her words: "At First Bank, our Ultimate goal is to remain a strong supporter of efforts geared towards equipping the youths with the skills and tools required for socioeconomic empowerment through our support of youth engagement initiatives, endowment schemes and infrastructure development.
"Our desire is to see our strategic and need- driven youth empowerment interventions culminate in equipping Nigeria youths for a bright future."
Also, Head, Human Capital Management and Development, Ayo Jaiyesimi, said that “this series is one of the intervention of the Bank to promote youth empowerment and to encourage undergraduates to take advantage of the event and get acquitted with the bank's dynamic and dependable bank, globally acclaimed as the best place to work in the Nation's financial services industry.”
The Series will feature exhibitions of FirstBank innovation products and services, job fair as well as competitions and  musical performance by popular pop star Davido.
There will also be career talks among the participant and guest at the event.
