A
British capacity building organisation, GTC has said it is planning to
train Nigerian public sector employees in order to meet the challenges
of the 21st century.
According to the company, the training
was in line with Federal Government’s Transformation Agenda and its
determination to reposition Nigeria to be among the 20 biggest economies
in the world by year 2020.
A statement by the company quoted the
Associate Director of GTC, Paula Nicholson, as saying that the firm was
also offering a £15,000 UK Work Based Learning Master’s Degree
scholarship to Nigerians in core areas of human capacity building and
development.
The firm is said to have helped
tremendously in the transformation of public sectors in developing
economies including Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa.
Nicholson said, “The world is moving at a
fast pace and developing economies would be left behind if nothing is
done now. This is why GTC’s programmes have been designed to meet the
immediate and future needs of managerial aspect of Nigeria public sector
especially to drive transformation.”
According to her, Nigeria has massive
public sector that if well-equipped can help not only to attract foreign
investors, but also further entrench the nation’s leading role in
economic leadership in Africa.
She said, “We at GTC sincerely believe
that with huge nature of material and human resources in Nigeria, if
well harnessed, will go a long way in aiding President Jonathan
Goodluck’s transformation agenda and further place Nigeria on a fast
lane of economic recovery and human development.
GTC was founded in 2004 with a high-level
capacity building services including consultancy, training and career
development for emerging economies, mainly in the Public Sector.
It also has specialized energy division that provides innovative services in the sector.
