Phillips Consulting offers e-learning solutions for business growth

TO boost critical business skills in the key functional areas of a business in the area of strategy, finance, operations management, sales, marketing and leadership through E-Learning Solutions in all sectors of the country, Phillips Consulting Limited, at closed of its first run of Advanced Business Simulation Programme for senior managers and executives, held in Lagos recently reaffirmed its commitment to demystify the ways /manner businesses are running in the country.
According a senior consultant of the Phillips Consulting and co-facilitator of the programme, Biodun Abolade, said that the programme has been executed along with their international programmes in U.S., Dubai and South Africa. The programme, which took place at the firm’s Learning Centre in Lagos, from September 24-27, was attended by over 30 senior executives (including MD’s and directors) from different companies across various industries and sectors such as oil and gas, banking, telecommunication, manufacturing amongst others.
Abolade expressed that practical programme is designed to allow participants explore real world business challenges in a “safe leadership laboratory” and build critical business skills in the key functional areas of a business such as strategy, finance, operations management, sales and marketing and leadership.
He said: During the programme participants worked in small groups reflecting the management team of a company and taking critical business decisions considering the uncertainty from the external business environment, competitors (other groups) and the interplay between marketing and sales, R&D, production, finance and people management within the company. After each decision cycle, participants repeatedly analyse the impact of their decisions on the performance of the business based on feedback from the facilitator in the form of the company’s balanced scorecard accompanied by the relevant financial and management reports of the company. 
Incrementally they learnt to skillfully adjust their business, operations and finance strategy as they gain an understanding of the critical levers they can use to optimise their company’s performance and beat competition.
The Managing Consultant, Business Advisory Services of Phillips Consulting, Mr. Bayo Adesanya, affirmed that most of the participants, entertained way to develop the business acumen and commercial awareness required by managers in today’s global and highly competitive business environment. It also provided them with a great opportunity for networking. A summary of some of the knowledge gained by participants on the programme include: To increased financial acumen to ensure that decisions regarding investments, expenses and working capital consider the impact on bottom line; application of the balanced scorecard as a performance management tool; importance of teamwork and leadership on business results among others.
