Beauty, brain n’style … That’s Toju Foyeh

toju-foyeh
CHARMING damsel, Toluwaloju Olowofoyeku is brain behind the fashion brand, Toju Foyeh. Barely two years in the fashion business, the talented lady clinched The Future Awards’ Best Designer of the Year.
With her glitzy cocktail and evening dresses, her fashion line has brought elegance, poise and glamour to the fashion scene. Entering the Nigerian market in December 2010, Olowofoyeku has since appeared in several style magazine covers, including Thisday, WoW, FAB magazine and others.
With a first and second degree in law from the University of Reading, England and the University of Manchester, Olowofoyeku enrolled at the Istituto Marangoni Milan, Italy, for a diploma in Fashion Design.
From childhood, Toju knew the ground was already paved for her to make a difference in designing.
This pretty damsel, who has designed for top celebrities including Tiwa Savage will open her first store in Lagos today.
Apart from making women look glamorous, Olowofoyeku has not failed to glam up herself. Her style is elegant and comfort.

A peep into Toju’s world … Glam it up

Classic drop earrings
Just like the designer, complement that perfect minimal point with those classic earrings.

Fun, comfy minis
Toju loves comfortable clothes; and minis do that perfectly for her. She says, “my style is elegant. And, on a regular day, I love wearing fun-fitted small clothes including comfortable short skirts. Mini skirts and dresses are iconic to factory girl style. The 60s saw a radical shift when it came to hemlines. Shorter hemlines were seen as revolutionary and a standpoint for youth culture. Structured shift dresses or A-line mini skirts are your best bet when it comes to pulling off a stylish Toju’s look.

The glitz and glam
In designing and choosing her look, Toju says, “different things inspire me; it could be from music to art, my general mood or a person. My latest collection was inspired by the red carpet lifestyle, the glitz and glamour. It is actually called glitz and glam,” she enthuses.

The simpler, the better
The simplest, most basic outfits are often the best and the most memorable. Sometimes, it’s nice to keep your outfit simple. It offers you the chance to let your personality shine through, whether it’s through your amazing cocktail ring that suddenly stands out or the smile on your face that is no longer overshadowed by an overdone outfit.  You should wear the clothes, not letting the clothes wear you.

Between comfy ‘n’ glam
Though this designer is not really into accessory; you would always catch her in minimal accessory. For shoes, she says, “in terms of comfort, I would say Prada, but for glamour, it’s Christian Louboutin.”

Centering the world
Toju’s favourite shopping city is definitely New York as “it’s just the centre of the world; it’s got everything you are looking for, from high street designers to vintage boutique; it has all.”

Beautify your skin
“For brand, my favourite is BlackUp, their cosmetics are actually water base; MAC is oil base and it’s not so good for my skin. For beauty products, it may be Estee Lauder or Olay, but my favourite is my shower gel,” she reveals.

Toju’s five fashion staples
Her first fashion staple is dress. A dress to her is just very comfortable. Others are slippers, heels, earrings and lip-gloss.
