As
Muslims all over the country celebrate Eid-el Kabir, which is characterized by
slaughtering of animals, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Abubakar
Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, Dr Muhammed Alkali
has advised people not to eat excess meat so as to avoid catching diarrhoea.
He
gave this advice during an interview with newsmen Friday where he noted the
propensity that many people may suffer from diarrhoea this festive period
because of the availability of a lot of meat.
He
pointed out that those who cook their animals well, store it in a hygienic
place and eat less will remain healthy throughout the salad season.
Alkali
also cautioned people against taking potash or tamarind liquid as a prevention
against diarrhoea noting that they cannot prevent the problem but are capable
of causing ulcer because ‘tamarind has too much acids’.
