Scotland’s oldest woman Jessie Gallan turned 109 years old on January 2. Now she has been sharing her secrets on how to have a long, healthy life. She’s had quite the unusual life, that is why be prepared, those secrets are quite extraordinary.
Jessie was born in 1906 in a tiny two-bed farm cottage, where she lived with five sisters and one brother. The girl left home aged 13 to become a milkmaid, she was then a farm kitchen helper and worked at a hotel. And one more point of her biography is that she has never been married.
Speaking about her habits she said, “My secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They’re just more trouble than they’re worth. I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married.”
According to support workers at the care home where centenarian lives, Jessie leads a healthy lifestyle. She takes part in all group activities, goes to the concerts, likes knitting and enjoys her church on Sunday.
