The tallest living man is Sultan Kösen, born in December in Turkey. Sultan measured 2.47 m (8 ft 1 in). He overtook the title from Bao Xishun (also known as Xi Shun). He is one of only twelve individuals in medical history to be confirmed at a height of eight feet or more.
Other tallest people in the world are: John Rogan (8 ft 9, died 1905), Leonid Stadnyk (8 ft 5, died 2008), Vaino Myllyrinne (8 ft 1, died in 1963), Suleiman Ali Nashnush (8 ft, died in 1991), Sun Ming-Ming (7 ft 9, still living) is considered the tallest basketball player.
