The proposal was made on Tuesday evening. Lola, who said yes to the proposal, was close to tears when the musician slipped the diamond engagement ring into her finger, and handed the car keys to her.
Peter, who didn’t give Lola prior notice of his plan, visited her residence with the automobile and parked it inside her compound. On the bonnet of the vehicle, he also dropped a rose flower and a love card with the inscription, ‘please say yes.’
This gesture was followed by a long passionate kiss from the lovers.
Some minutes later, the musician posted on his Instagram and Twitter handle that “It’s about time,” and shortly after, he also posted that “she said yes.”
He later updated his Blackberry status with “Officially, she’s now Mrs. Okoye…”
Speaking with P.M.NEWS Wednesday morning, an excited Peter said: “it is something I had always wanted to do. I knew I would definitely do this to Lola one day, but I needed to wait for the right time. Honestly, she deserves even more from me.”
Also speaking with our reporter, Lola simply said: “it is a day the Lord has made…I’m excited the way any woman in my shoes would.”
Mary Okoye, Peter’s younger sister told P.M.NEWS: “wow, I’m happy for my brother, especially with the fact that Lola is now officially Mrs. Okoye.”
The romance between Peter and Lola started many years ago, even before Peter became a celebrity.
Their relationship is already blessed with two kids; Cameron and Aliona Okoye.
Lola, a Public Relations expert, met Peter while she was working with FKG2, an advertising company.
Speaking on what attracted her to Peter, Lola explained that “he has drive. He has vision and pursues it. He doesn’t let anybody distract him from that vision and that I saw in him, which a lot of people didn’t see. Some people were like, ‘what are you doing with a musician? Are you crazy?’ but I saw something very different and unique about Peter.
“I saw the goals he set for himself and how he accomplished those goals step by step, and I was very impressed with that. I also saw that he wasn’t a selfish person. He was a generous person from the outset, even though he didn’t have much then, he was always generous. I like a man who is generous, not for the financial reason, but also to see how he can add value to other people’s lives- that is very important to me.
“He is also a good listener; he listens to people, listens to me…He’s an amazing guy.”
