The minister, however, tactically evaded a question on when the council would resume precisely, saying the date of the resumption would be announced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.
The minister further listed some of the achievements of the administration in the outgoing year to include the ongoing reform in the power sector, the construction of 32 roads across the country as well as the successful outings of the national teams in the African Cup of Nations, the Under-17 World Cup and the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers.
His words: “This year has been particularly good for this administration. Railway services were restored. Tremendous growth was recorded in agriculture and sports.
“There has never been a better year with these numbers of laurels we won in sports. No time in our history that we have recorded these achievements in one year.
“We will work hander next year. We will keep our eyes on target despite the lot of politics that will come up. Generally, it has been a productive year for the government”.
Maku added that while the council prayed for peace in Nigeria in the coming year and beyond, it equally tasked Nigerians on the need to always be law-abiding.
