Arnold Schwarzenegger has conquered the screen, amazed the world with his muscles, and even tried his hand at politics.While you've watched Schwarzenegger kick ass on the screen for years and read about him in political scandals, there are probably some things you don't know about him. 1. The Guinness Book of World Records called Schwarzenegger "the most perfectly developed man in the history of the world."
2. In 1947 Schwarzenegger was born in Thal, Austria, a village bordering Graz, and in 1983 he became a U.S. citizen.
3. His famous line "I'll be back" from 1984's "The Terminator" was originally written as "I'll come back."
4. Schwarzenegger went AWOL from the Austrian army to enter his first bodybuilding contest. You gotta do what you gotta do.
5. His ex-wife Maria Shriver is a niece of the late President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy.
6. James Cameron originally wanted Schwarzenegger for the role of Kyle Reese in "The Terminator," but after reading the script Schwarzenegger asked Cameron to let him play the part of the Machine. Cameron said, "No, no! Reese is the star! He's the big hero! The Terminator hardly has any lines!" but Schwarzenegger simply said, "Trust me." Like his machine character, Schwarzenegger must have been from the future too because he was certainly right.
7. While on vacation in Hawaii in 2004, Schwarzenegger jumped into the ocean and rescued a man from drowning. If that's not cinematic we don't know what is.
8. Schwarzenegger received an Honorary Doctorate from his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Superior, in recognition of his charitable works.
9. At his bodybuilding peak Schwarzenegger's chest was 57", waist 34", biceps 22", thighs 28½", calves 20", and his competition weight was 235 lbs (260 lbs off-season).
10. According to his childhood friends, Schwarzenegger often said his goals in life were to move to America, become an actor, and marry a Kennedy. He accomplished all three.
11. He was the first private citizen in the U.S. to own a Humvee vehicle, a giant car for a giant man.
12. Schwarzenegger has won 13 major bodybuilding competitions and holds the record for winning the most in history. His awards include one Mr. Junior Western Europe, seven Mr. Olympias, and five Mr. Universes.
13. In 2003 Schwarzenegger announced his plan to run for Governor of California during his visit on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." TV Guide selected this as the greatest TV moment of 2003.
14. Schwarzenegger underwent a genioplasty, a procedure in which his jaw was moved back so that it no longer juts out.
15. The character Rainier Wolfecastle in "The Simpsons" (1989) is based on Schwarzenegger.
16. In April of 1997 Schwarzenegger underwent heart surgery to correct a congenital heart valve condition.
17. In 1993's futuristic "Demolition Man", Sandra Bullock's character Lenina Huxley talks about the Arnold Schwarzenegger Presidential Library that exists in the film. She explains that based on the popularity of Schwarzenegger's movies, a Constitutional amendment was passed for Schwarzenegger to run for President. Ten years later in 2003 Schwarzenegger ran for the office of Governor of California and won.
18. In May 2011, a few days after Schwarzenegger and wife Shriver announced their separation, the Los Angeles Times revealed that Schwarzenegger had fathered a son over 14 years earlier with the housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena.
19. According to his friend, actor Tom Arnold, Schwarzenegger has sex five times a day to keep fit. Maybe more 66-year-olds should add this to their daily workout routines.
20. Schwarzenegger was part-owner of Planet Hollywood and Schatzi restaurants, but in 2000 he sold off his Planet Hollywood stock.
21. He has been nominated for a Razzie Award as Worst Actor eight times during his career, and in 2004 received a special award for being the "Worst Razzie Loser of Our First 25 Years."
22. He turned down the role of John McClane in "Die Hard," which went to Bruce Willis instead. Funny enough, in the film Willis has a line where he says that the terrorists "have enough explosives to orbit Arnold Schwarzenegger."
23. Early in his career, Schwarzenegger appeared as a contestant on "The Dating Game."When he listed his measurements on the show he made all the women contests blush.
24. In recognition of his achievements in bodybuilding and his lifelong devotion to physical fitness, Schwarzenegger was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame in 2005, making him a Charter Member.
25. In 2005 The Green Party of Austria attempted to strip Schwarzenegger of his Austrian citizenship due to his support for the death penalty.
