Airtel named most innovative telecoms operator

Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Eugene Juwah and Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Segun Ogunsanya at the Nigeria s Telecoms Awards Weekend in Lagos. Airtel was adjudged Most Innovative Telco and Best Customer Services Operator.

Leading Telecoms services provider, Airtel Nigeria, has been named the Most Innovative Telecoms Operator in Nigeria at an Industry Award’s event that attracted regulators, telecoms pundits, top politicians and seasoned journalists.
Chaired by Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, the Nigeria’s Telecoms Award, is widely considered as one of the most prestigious and foremost platforms for celebrating key milestones in Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape.
Airtel also emerged the Best Customer Services Operator at the event, which held Saturday night at the Incubator Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Award citations read in the company’s honour said Airtel has led in innovation and celebrated several milestones as a business in the period under review.
According to the citation, Airtel has grown its network footprints to become the largest 3.75G Network in Nigeria and has also redefined telephony experience across the country with the introduction of the revolutionary High Definition Voice Service, implementation of Google Cache Solution, as well as dominating the 4G landscape with the first successful field trial-launch of Long Term Evolution in key cities.
It added that Airtel is known for its revolutionary approach as evident in ground-breaking value offerings like 5X, a product that was quickly imitated by other operators, and its most recent value proposition, 1SIM, another package that empowers consumers to enjoy same benefits across all networks.
Commenting on why Airtel emerged the Best Customer Services Operator, the Award’s organizers said right from when the Airtel brand was launched in Nigeria in November, 2010, the company has maintained a singular focus of exciting and delighting telecommunications consumers; as a result, it has initiated several programmes to improve its service delivery as well as boost customers’ satisfaction on the network.
“Airtel has also taken its time to build a customer-centric organization. With the launch of I-CARE Philosophy for its staff and key business partners, the company has adopted customer service not only as a passion but a religion that must be practiced wholeheartedly.
 “With this move, every staff of Airtel Nigeria becomes a touch point in dealing with customers’ queries and also exceeding their expectations,” the citation said.
While accepting the awards, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Segun Ogunsanya, thanked employees of the organization for their passion and industriousness just as he dedicated both awards to telecommunications consumers and customers of Airtel Nigeria.
He also assured that Airtel will continue to pursue its brand vision of being the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians.
Flagging off the colourful event, Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, who was represented by Akin Kereke-Ekun, Former Chairman, Technical Committee on Privatization, described the Nigerian Telecoms Award as the most credible award platform in the Nigerian Telecoms space.
The award also featured keynote address from Chief Executive Officer of Mainone, Funke Opeke.
