Mother Meets Daughter After 49 Years Of Separation

A 76-year-old Zella Jackson Price has been reunited with her daughter 49 years after she was falsely told that her baby had died at the hospital just hours after being born.

The woman couldn’t find words to describe her shock and happiness after learning that her daughter was alive.
Almost fifty years ago Price gave birth to a baby girl at the Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. When she was still in the hospital ward, she was told by doctors that her baby, which was prematurely born, had died. But the details she was given were very vague. The doctors also told her that the baby’s twin had died too, although she had only had a single-child birth. Price recalled that the hospital had a big maternity ward and she had seen women nursing the wrong babies while she was there.

Her daughter, Melanie Diane Gilmore, was alive all this time and for an unknown reason was adopted by another family. She was looking for her birth mother for a long time, and with the help of her children, she managed to find her.

The two women have recently met for the first time and hugged for several moments. Price confessed that she is hurt by the years of separation, but grateful to God for this second chance.
“There was a bond that automatically started when we saw each other.  (God) has given me everything the devil has taken from me.
“I’m getting it back. I’m getting my baby back,” Price, an accomplished gospel singer, said.

Gilmore who lost her hearing at 3 years old, because of a childhood illness expressed her excitement using sign language. Gilmore’s kids told Price that they had never seen their mother as happy as she was when she arrived in St. Louis.
“She’s been dancing and all of her comedy and laughter has come out. We’re all so happy.”
The family will soon begin an investigation into what happened at the hospital the day Gilmore was born. Price has already hired an attorney to help with the process.
But for now, they just celebrate being a family once again and enjoy every minute of their reunion.
