A newborn baby girl,
whose weight is
6 kilograms 350 grams, shocked all midwives at San
Luis Valley Hospital, Colorado, USA.
Alisha Hernandez went into labor on Monday and gave birth
to Mia Yasmin Garcia by C-section. Midwives who helped
deliver the baby were shocked when the baby arrived looking
a lot larger than they first thought she would be.
And after being weighed it was revealed that the newborn
tipped the scales at 6 kilograms, 370 grams and measuring
56 centimeters long. The girl’s father Francisco Garcia
explained that all of the couple’s other children were all
born at normal weights and even the combined weight
of their twins at birth was lower than Mia.
Mr Garcia said: “They’re all shocked that they’re seeing a
baby like that. They were like whoa! They opened their eyes
like they’ve never seen a baby like that. The nurse, she was
shocked. She’s like “Come here! Come here! Come here!”
I went and I’m like, what happened? She’s like, well
check out this! I checked it, and it 6 kilograms and 370 grams.”
Shortly after her birth, the baby was transferred to another
hospital after suffering from low glucose levels and having
trouble breathing. Doctors hope that the girl can join her
parents and four older sisters Britney, Ximena, Yulissa and
Yuliana at home within the next week.
