If there were any doubts that ‘Jenny from Block’ had made it big, shun the non-believers because the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced on Thursday that the Puerto Rican star will be honored with star No. 2,500 on the coveted boulevard.
The 43-year-old singer and actress will receive the milestone star on June 20 for her contribution to the music industry.
“In 1994, Sophia Loren became the recipient of the 2,000th star on the Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, said in a press release. “This ceremony marks the 2,500th star on our famous Walk and Jennifer Lopez was the obvious choice!”
In the release, the Chamber of Commerce lists JLo’s box-office hits, musical success, and executive production of “The Fosters” as some of the reasons for choosing Lopez. Fans who can’t make it to Los Angeles for the unveiling, can watch the event live on the organization's web page.
Recently, the star voiced her plans to start lobbying for greater diversity in TV programming via her role as Chief Creative Officer of the NUVOtv network set to launch on July 18. Lopez also highlighted the power Latinos have demonstrated politically and culturally.
"There's a big revolution going on, it's like a media and cultural revolution of Latinos here in the United States," the star told the Associated Press. "We're realizing our power. We're realizing that we matter here. You know, we're not just, you know, the guys working behind the scenes in the kitchens and as a plumber."
