A lot of people complain about their job and how unhappy it makes them. They bemoan the stress, their colleagues, their bosses, and their job specification.
But seeing as you spend a large percentage of your time at work, you need to find ways to make things more tolerable. These tips below will help.
1. Find a sounding board: One tip to feeling ‘at home’ at work is having a work friend. Having someone you can talk to and vent to could make things a lot better. Only someone working where you work can understand your struggles, so your outside friends will not be able to provide the comfort you need.
2. Take breaks: It is tempting for you to show your dedication by working through your breaks. But you need to realize that your brain/body gets tired. You need to take a step back, even if it is for 10 minutes, to re-energize and de-stress.
3. Relax: Do not overthink everything and try not to be too tense. You should understand that things change and you will only be adding to your stress if you do not learn to let go. Just because you had a bad day does not mean you should expect the next day to go badly too. Avoid expecting the worst out of every day or everything because you already assume your job sucks. Things might turn around.
4. Move: Get off you seat and take a walk. This will not only help blood circulate better, but it can also help your brain reboot if you are having difficulties
5. Be grateful: When you approach situations with a feeling of gratefulness, it becomes more difficult to be depressed. Appreciate the opportunity you have. Appreciate how far you have come. Stop being so hard on yourself and remember that, people will give anything to be in the position you are.
