9 Nigerian films to feature at 2015 edition of India’s Woodpecker Festival


In an attempt to bring Nigerian cinema to the Indian audience, Kunle Afolayan's 'October 1,' Emem Isong's 'Knocking on Heaven's Door,' and more has been selected to screen at the upcoming India’s Woodpecker Festival.

Organisers of  Woodpecker Film Festival (WFF) have announced that  Kunle Afolayan’s multiple award winning ‘October 1,’ Emem Isong''Knocking on Heaven's Door,' Obi Emeonye's 'Thy Will be Done' among other entertaining Nigerian movies, will screen at the 2015 edition of the festivals.
Other movies listed includes ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, Emem Isong’s ‘Champagne’, ‘Silent Tears’, ‘Bedlam’,  ‘Brothers’,and ‘Doll House’.

The film festival is scheduled to commence on September 17, 2015 in New Dehli, India.
“It’s for the first time that a serious attempt is being made to bring Nigerian cinema to the Indian audience. I am sure this is going to be an enriching experience for cinema lovers in India," founding director of the festival, Narender Yadav said.

"At the same time, these films will also attract (a) large number of Nigerian youths, who are in New Delhi either for their higher studies or for work. Overall, it’s going to be an exciting feature of our festival this year”, he said.
