Are you struggling to figure out what you truly want in your life? If so, I’ve got answers for you.
Here’s how to discover what you want in your life:
1. First, get rid of what you don’t want in your life
Here’s how most people try to find their passion: they start searching for their passion on top of an already crazy-busy, hectic schedule. They get stressed out by their intense quest to find what they love and end up giving up their search, succumbing to a life they don’t really love.
Instead, I want you to focus first on what you don’t want in your life. Even if you have no idea what you truly do want, you more than likely have things in your life that you know you don’t want. Start getting rid of the unimportant junk in your life. Get rid of the time-sucking, empty activities that don’t add value to your life. Spend less time with toxic people. Start saying no to activities that don’t align with your priorities so you have more time to say yes to what truly matters.
You must create time and space in your life to find what you want, and the best way to do that is to start getting rid of the unimportant junk in your schedule and in your environment.
2. Understand that clarity will come from taking action
Self-discovery is important, and there are some very helpful tests to help you understand your innate strengths and your personality. These tests can be incredibly eye-opening, and when you understand who you are, you can make choices that best use your strengths. However, self-discovery alone typically isn’t going to give you all the answers you need. If you truly want clarity in your life, you’ll need to get out from behind your computer and take action.
Clarity comes from taking action.
The self-discovery process must be combined with taking massive action. Get out there and try new things. Ultimately, no matter how many aptitude tests you take, you won’t know what you truly love until you try it. You must act to find the clarity you desire. Whether it’s taking a community education course on a topic that interests you, speaking at an event for a cause that’s meaningful to you, mentoring someone, or starting to write the book you’ve been longing to write — there are thousands of ways you can take action to start figuring out what you love. Pay attention to what tugs at your heart and captures your attention, and take action related to the topics that pique your interest.
3. Get out of your comfort zone on a regular basis
If you haven’t found what you love in your current life, you’re not going to find it by continuing your same-old routine, day in and day out, for another decade. If you haven’t found what lights you up, you’re going to need to shake things up in your life and get out of your comfort zone. The life you dream of living is outside of your comfort zone. You’ll need to step out of your comfort zone over and over to grow into the person you are meant to be and live the life you long to live. Not sure how to get out of your comfort zone?
