Everyday,
your lungs are exposed to pollutants and microbes that are lodged in
the air you breathe. Taking care of your lungs will ensure that they
function well and filter out the toxicity. Here is a list of healthy
foods that will boost lung health and keep you healthy.
Water: Drinking plenty of water will
regulate the blood flow to and from the lungs. It will also keep the
lungs hydrated and the mucus flowing. Apart from that, not drinking
enough water will cause your lungs to stay dry, which will make them
more susceptible to irritation.
Cruciferous vegetables: Cruciferous
vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, kale and broccoli have shown
significant progression in reducing the onset and development of lung
cancer. These vegetables are rich in chlorophyll that can cleanse and
build blood and are full of healthy antioxidants as well.
Apples: Apples are rich in vitamins E, C
and flavonoids which boost the functionality of the lungs. People who
eat apples several times a week have healthier lungs than people who
don’t.
Fatty fish: Fatty fish contain high
levels of omega-3 fatty acids which is one of the most essential
nutrients for healthy lungs.
Beans, nuts and seeds: Beans, nuts and
seeds are rich in magnesium which is another mineral that is essential
for lung health. They also benefit cardiovascular health.
Carrots: Carrots are also rich in
vitamins A and C, lycopene and antioxidants which aid in lung health.
Regular consumption of this vegetable will lower ones risk of developing
lung cancer too.
