"Live fast, die young", "you only live once" are some of the mantras popular with young people especially those in their 20s.
While there is no harm in being young, wild and free, it is key to plan your future from your 20s.
Here are 5 things to do when you hit the big 20.
1) Do not play with time
Having a good watch is good but being cautious of time is better. When you are in your 20s you are under the illusion that you still have a lot of time. In reality, your 20s is when you should be laying the foundation of your adulthood. Do not procrastinate on your dream and vision. Start building your future today.
2) Have goals
Map out your future by having goals. You don't want to wander around aimlessly in life. You need to have goals and work towards them. That's the only way for you to move in life. Goals reveal ambition. To make it in life you need to be ambitious and hungry to achieve things. Write down your goals and works towards smashing them.
3) Network
Isolation is dangerous. Go out there, network and socialise. Get to know people. Developing your network helps to improve yourself on the business side of things. Connections are essential. If you plan on moving from point A to point B, then develop your networking skills and meet people who can help you achieve your goals.
4) Stay Fit
In Roman times, it was essential to be physically fit. A fit person was seen as an ideal human. There is nothing cute about being a slob. If you want to enjoy your latter years, it is best you hit the gym now and work on being fit. You have a lot of energy to burn in your 20s. It easier to be fit now than in your 50s.
5) Balance
All work and no play is not sexy. Yes, you have goals to achieve, and a body to keep fit but take time out to have fun. Get a hobby, enjoy yourself, visit friends and be happy. It really doesn't make sense if your professional life is dope but your personal life is dull.
