Pastor Ashimolowo Explains Importance Of Rice Farming

The renowned Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, Matthew Ashimolowo, is successful in both spiritual and terrestrial deeds.
The pastor owns a huge 140-acre rice farm in Ofada, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, and plans to expand to 200 acres.
He is proud of what his is doing, because farming creates jobs and encourages Nigerians to get back into agriculture.
“I believe we should not just talk but put our words into action,” the man of God told a correspondent of ThePunch.

According to Ashimolowo, the cultivation of cassava that started during the administration of an ex President, Olusegun Obasanjo, went to waste. This was due to the fact that no encouragement had been given for it. Therefore, the pastor’s company switched to producing rice, which is in real demand in Nigeria.
Our country is the world’s second largest importer of rice with 2.1 metric tonnes per year. This costs over N356bn per annum for the budget.
One of the major challenges is fighting hungry birds which destroy rice plantations. However, the solution has been found:
“We divided the plantation into four sections and put at least 10 people in each section armed with catapults and whistles. We also used drums,” Pastor Ashimolowo’s associate, Mr Akeem Aremu, revealed.

Making savings easy and simple through automation

Filed under: This is Money |
The challenge for most people is being able to save a portion of their income. While some have realised the need to start savings for retirement, investment purposes or for the rainy day, the process of realising this is still not clear to them. In our series on the Old Mutual Money Management advice this week, we present to you the key to savings automation.
Most people understand that they need to save, but just can’t do it month after month, without a break. To start a meaningful savings plan, we need to change our savings attitudes and habits. Savings must become a priority. Almost anyone who earns a regular salary is able to save something each month, even if it is only a small amount.
Our inability to save is usually because we lack discipline and are tempted by things we see in shops, on TV or magazines.
Advertising makes us think we need to spend. In reality, we probably don’t need expensive new shoes or a hi-fi and even if we did, cheaper ones are often just as good.
Paying yourself first, by taking a set amount from your salary on pay-day, will force you to change your spending. This is a very good thing. Eventually you will forget about your saving and not even miss the money.
Psychologically, it should just become another “fixed expense” in your budget (the Secret of the Elephant will help you understand budgeting). By paying savings at the beginning of the month, makes the money unavailable for spending.
Another important aspect of changing our savings habits is to make the savings automatic. You need to decide on a way that automatically deducts the money from your account at the beginning of the month, and transfers it into a savings account or other investment.
If it is not automatic and you have to transfer the money yourself, you will soon find reasons for not transferring it immediately. “I didn’t have the time”, or “I needed it for new school clothes for the children” and similar excuses will soon stop your savings plan from working.
Three ways to automate your savings:
Debit order
Stop order
Payroll deduction
There are different ways to make savings automatic: Some employers are willing to deduct the money from your salary and pay it into a savings account or investment, but you must ask for this; You can go to your bank and arrange a stop order; Some investment companies ask you to sign a debit order for the amount.
By implementing one of these methods, you will be on your way to disciplined savings, which is the true Secret of the Lion.
Fact file
Debit order
A debit order is an instruction to your bank to pay money from your account into another company’s account every month, on the same day of the month. The other company makes all the arrangements once you have signed a Debit Order Authorisation Form.
If you want to change or cancel the debit order, you need to make the arrangements directly with the company and not the bank. The company pays all the bank transaction costs with regard to the debit order. Make sure you only sign debit orders with companies you really trust, such as investment or insurance companies; Always check your bank statement to ensure that the correct amount has been deducted from your account.
Stop order
A stop order works in a similar way, but you personally make the arrangements directly with your bank, and not the other company. You have greater control and can change or cancel the stop order directly with your bank at any time. The bank will charge you a small fee for this service.
A word of caution!
You must always ensure that you have enough funds in your account to cover all your debit or stop orders. Banks charge or heavy penalties will fall on you if you don’t have funds in your account on the day that the automatic payments are due. Don’t let this happen to you!

9 Things Successful People Do To Always Get What They Want

PRODUCTIVITY BY
Get What They WantOne of the best decisions I’ve ever made was the decision to take on the job of hosting my own weekly radio show where I find some of the most successful people in the world, and bring them on my show to ask them about what they did to become so successful in life and business. In this article, I’m going to share with you some of the key take-aways I’ve picked up from talking to – and reading about – thought leaders from various fields about the things successful people do to always get what they want. Ready to dive in? Let’s go.

1. They know what they want.

The first and most important thing that successful people do to always get what they want is so simple that most people totally forget about it: they figure out what they actually want. When you know what you want, you can get clear about what you need to do to actually get what you want. (If you’re unsure about what you want in life and business, I’d suggest picking up some career and self-improvement books to help you gain some clarity and focus).

2. They’re assertive.

Successful people know that they need to be both bold and sincere. Balancing these two characteristics is the essence of assertiveness. Oh, and by the way – being assertive is not a natural talent someone is born with. Assertiveness is a learned skill. And anyone can do it. Including you!

3. They learn.

You may have heard the old saying, “great leaders are readers”. For the most part, I’d say this is totally true. Let me give you an example … On my radio show I regularily ask successful people about their habits which lead towards success. You want to know something really neat? Every single one them reads books. Successful people read and learn as much as they can about what they want; so that they can get what they want. If you’re low on time, subscribe to a book summary site to get the core concepts of the books in your industry quickly.

4. They make things meaningful.

One of the most powerful things successful people do to always get what they want is that they make things meaningful. That is, they ensure that whatever endeavor they decide to embark upon is meaningful to them (and not necessarily to anyone else). They know and understand that it’s only worth it if it matters.

5. They ask.

One big thing that successful people always do in order to get what they want is this: they ask. Most people are too shy to ask for what they really want. Don’t be like most people. Here’s an exercise you can do to get over it: next time you’re buying something, regardless of what it is, ask for a discount. Just do it. The worst case scenario is that you’ll get a chuckle from the Barrista at Starbucks. The best case scenario is that you’ll get comfortable with negotiating when it’s time to buy your next car.

6. They take action.

Insight without action is useless. Successful people know that in order to always get what they want, they’ve got to take massive action. One of the most powerful exercises I’ve ever discovered is this: never leave the sight of a goal without taking some kind action towards its achievement. In other words: as soon as you decide you want something, or as soon as you set a goal of some kind, do something - anything - that shifts you closer towards getting it.

7. They use their time wisely.

Have you ever heard of NET time? It stands for “No Extra Time”. For example: when you’re driving, and sitting in traffic, are you listening to Mylie Cyrus? Or are you listening to an audiobook? Successful people take NET time seriously. Get yourself some audiobook so you can start listening to the best business and self-improvement books available – all while you’re on your way to work in the morning.

8. They choose to lead.

You don’t need to have formal authority to become a leader. You just need to choose yourself. All successful people know this. And so should you. Don’t wait for anyone else to do it, because the truth is, that most people want to be led anyway. So just step up and claim authority. Be the leader you wish you always had.

9. They contribute.

Successful people know that in order to get what they want, they got to be willing to help other people get what they want. What happens when you stop doing your job? What happens when you stop caring about your school work? What happens when you become emotionally disconnected from a relationship? You suffer, that’s what happens. Successful people know and understand that in order to succeed, they need to contribute. They need to add value to the lives of others. They need to do their best, so that they can become the best.

So, now what?

I hope this article has re-ignited the fire that you already had within you to be successful at any endeavor. The reason why I’m stressing the fact that you’ve already got everything you need to succeed and get what you want, is because you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t already motivated to be successful. At the end of the day however, all the insights in the world are worth absolutely nothing unless you combine them with action. When it’s all said and done, it’s totally your decision what you do with this list and how you apply it to your life and career. But if I may, here’s what I would suggest you consider as you get started doing the things to help you succeed:
Review this list of the 9 things successful people do to always get what they want and then compare it with where you currently are at each one of these 9 things. Rate yourself in each one of the 9 things.
Next, pick just ONE of them to work on every week. For example, if you find that you’d like to learn more about the business side of the company you work for, then go read the best business books to help you do that. Never stop learning. Always feed your mind with the knowledge you need to become as successful as possible within your area or industry. It doesn’t matter how busy you are. We’re all busy. Make the time to expand your knowledge.
And remember: every key learning should be immediately followed with action.

3 Essential Things to Achieve Success (Hard Work Is Not One of Them)

PRODUCTIVITY BY Achieve Success
A common adage is that you need to work harder and suffer more than anyone else if you want to achieve success.
At the most, that’s a half-truth.
From what I have learned from people who have accomplished big things in both their lives and careers, one of their most common “a-ha moments” was when they realized that working hard was not enough to succeed, and that often it was even a waste of time and energy.
Thinking from this perspective, I have collected 3 things that just are as important, or even more important, than hard work when it comes to achieving success.

1. Purpose

things achieve success
You’ve been working down in the boiler room for so long that you may not even remember WHY.
If you examined every single person in the world who is considered a failure (especially by themselves), you would see that all their lives lack the same ingredient: purpose.
They don’t know where they are going. They don’t know why they do the things they do and don’t think there can be a reason. They chase only short-term satisfactions like food or sex, and those are the only things that keep them moving.
They are operating only out of the animal side of themselves. Thus, they are not able to practice long-term thinking or personal analysis as human beings can.
There is no need to look at very clear cases of failure to find the disease of lack of purpose. If you are not constantly aware, you will find yourself in the middle of doing something and won’t know why you are doing it.
Momentum can be a good friend, but is also one of those friends that will make you waste a ton of time if you don’t keep an eye on it.
Every time you start an action, keep in mind that you are going to keep on doing it for the rest of your life. Unless, of course, something internal or external reminds you to start doing something else.
When you start working on something without clearly knowing the expected results, it may take you hours or days of hard work to realize that it isn’t what you should be doing, if you ever want to achieve your goals.
Don’t be a busy, hard-working person. Be a hard-planning person who takes purposeful actions instead.

2. Self-work

Work on yourself 10 times as hard as you work on external elements, and you will feel that you are moving 10 times faster towards what you want.
Almost all the hard work you have to do to succeed is focused on replacing your routines and habits with the ones a successful person would have. By deliberately changing your procedures, you change the results you achieve, the value you provide, and the way you are seen by yourself and the rest of the world.
If you could perform the same training and habits as Bruce Lee, day after day, there is no doubt that you would sooner or later become a remarkable martial artist, right?
And what about performing like a person whose success in business has been outstanding? What if you integrated the same routines and habits that have allowed others to unlock the power and creativity they needed to succeed in their career or life?
You could, literally, start performing like that today and get astounding results immediately.
The only requirement is that you put your old habits and self-limiting beliefs aside, making space for new ones.
You must look at them before you can let them go; if you don’t recognize the weeds amongst the flowers, you won’t be able to take them out.
Success is not attained by fighting the old, but by letting it go and building the new in its place.

3. Belief

If you don’t believe it’s possible for you to achieve what you want, you can work day and night, but you will never succeed.
Sometimes, all the distance that seems to be separating you from your goals is in your mind. If you removed those mental barriers, you would see that you could just reach out and grab what you’ve been pursuing for so long.
As long as you don’t believe that it’s possible for you to have it, you are going to keep creating excuses and distractions. That’s simply because it feels uncomfortable or scary to have something you don’t think you are ready to have, or become someone you don’t believe you can be.
If you removed the negative beliefs about what YOU can have and become, your reality would change instantly.

Conclusion

I know that these three things also require hard work and focus, but the stress, frustration and hours of pushing and shoveling they may save you are priceless.
